# GiftWell vs SpiritualGiftsTest.com Church Dashboard

> SpiritualGiftsTest.com's Church Dashboard is $99 a year for unlimited tests, with an embed, search by gift, CSV export and completion tracking, and its site says 1,000-plus churches use it. It is a record of who has which gifts, and a good one for the price. GiftWell is built for the week after: each result lands in your team's follow-up list with the person's own words and consent, next to the serving teams that need those gifts, moves through statuses as the conversation happens, and gets a 90-day check on whether the placement took. It shows bands with the margin drawn rather than a ranked chart, syncs Planning Center both ways on every plan, connects an AI assistant that can work your list, and is free for your first 50 people. Pick SpiritualGiftsTest.com for the lowest flat price at scale; pick GiftWell if the point of the test is that someone gets placed.

## The test itself

SpiritualGiftsTest.com's church page describes the test by its dashboard rather than its questions, so this page does not state a question count or a time. Its results group gifts into four colour-coded categories, and a church can hide gifts it does not teach. Ten personality assessments come free with the dashboard.

GiftWell's test is about 60 statements about what has actually happened, mostly in the past year, across nine gifts (Romans 12 plus administration and hospitality). It takes about ten minutes on a phone, saves progress on the device, and needs no account, app or email. Each statement was written against the research on self-report and on gift inventories, which is published on [why we ask what we ask](/why-we-ask-what-we-ask). A church that wants its own statements, or to import SHAPE and homegrown results, has the builder on the Growing plan.

## How results are shown

A gift score built from a handful of statements is honest to about two points either way. SpiritualGiftsTest.com, as its page describes it, shows a chart. GiftWell shows bands: every gift within three points of the highest is in the lead band, the next gift within two points is "at the edge", and inside a band gifts sit in Romans 12 order so no ranking can be recovered. A pastor talks about two or three gifts, not about which one came third.

## What the team gets after

SpiritualGiftsTest.com's dashboard is a record: who has finished, searchable by gift, personality or name, with an email on completion and a CSV to take elsewhere. A church can also type in results from printed tests. That covers a lot for $99. What its page does not describe is anywhere to write down whether anyone has talked to the person.

GiftWell treats the result as the start of a conversation. It lands in a follow-up list with the person's own words and consent, next to the serving teams that need those gifts. A leader logs the conversation, places the person, and gets a check-in 90 days later on whether it took, which on Planning Center churches looks at whether the person was actually scheduled. Leaders see only their own ministries, and a weekly digest lists who is waiting on whom.

## What GiftWell does that SpiritualGiftsTest.com's pages do not describe

As of October 2026, none of these appears on the church dashboard page we read. The page may offer more than it lists; this page reports only what it says.

- **An AI assistant that works your list.** Connect Claude or any assistant that speaks the Model Context Protocol, scoped to a role and expiring, and ask who is waiting, log a conversation, place someone or walk through setup. It never contacts a member and never scores anyone.
- **Planning Center both ways, on every plan.** Band names and the date to fields you choose; teams in from Services and People; a check a month after each placement on whether it got scheduled. Nothing written for anyone who did not consent.
- **Your website read for you.** Colours, logo, city, ministries and serving teams offered from your own pages, each to accept or not.
- **Two friends' confirmations.** A person can send their bands to two people who know them, who say whether they ring true and where they picture them serving. Only the pastoral team sees the answers.
- **Signals and insights.** Watches on what people write and which gifts arrive, and four charts of how your church's gifts are shifting, with small numbers hidden.
- **A published list of promises** to the people who take it: never ranked, never shared without consent, never kept longer than you said, erasable by the member, exportable by the owner as a sealed file.

## Price

For a church that will assess everyone and has more than 500 people, SpiritualGiftsTest.com's $99 flat rate is the cheaper line. For a church of 50 or fewer, GiftWell is free. Between those, GiftWell's $100 a year for 150 people is a dollar more than SpiritualGiftsTest.com and includes your own subdomain, Planning Center and everything above; leaders and pastors are never charged for.

## Who should choose SpiritualGiftsTest.com

- A large church that wants unlimited tests for the lowest flat price.
- A church that wants a personality assessment bundled in.
- A church that mostly wants a searchable record of who has which gifts, with a CSV to export.
- A church that values a long track record: their page says 1,000-plus churches.

## Who should choose GiftWell

- A church that wants results shown honestly, as bands with the margin drawn.
- A church that wants the result in a leader's hands the same day, with the person's words, consent and serving teams, and a check on whether the placement took.
- A church on Planning Center that wants band names in its people records and its teams in GiftWell, on any plan.
- A church that wants an AI assistant doing the clerical work and never judging its people.
- A church that wants the assessment on its own subdomain in its own colours, with a branded QR code for the bulletin.
- A church of 50 or fewer that wants to start free with no card.

## Switching

Run both for a month. Create your church (free, no card), give GiftWell your website so it offers your colours and ministries, connect Planning Center, and put the new link in the bulletin. SpiritualGiftsTest.com lists a CSV export, which gives you the names to invite. Old results from printed tests or another inventory can be imported on GiftWell's Growing plan, and GiftWell writes to Planning Center fields you choose, so nothing another tool wrote is touched.
