# Shape walks with your AI

> Connect Claude or ChatGPT, hand it your own discipleship materials, and let it draft your walk commitments and weekly questions. Drafts wait on How walks work for you to accept.

For: Pastor, Admin, Owner

GiftWell starts every church with its own starter [commitments and weekly questions](/docs/walking-with#one-question-a-week). Most churches want them in their own words. You don't need to type them: connect the assistant you already use, give it what you teach, and it drafts them for you. Nothing changes until someone on your team accepts a draft.

## 1. Connect your assistant

Go to **Settings → AI agents** and choose **New connection**. Give it a name (*Claude on Pastor Ana's laptop*), a role of pastor or higher, and how long it lives. Paste the instructions the page shows into Claude (Desktop, Code or claude.ai), ChatGPT, or any assistant that speaks the Model Context Protocol. [AI agents](/docs/ai-agents) has the details.

## 2. Give it your materials

Attach or paste what shapes discipleship at your church: a membership class, a small group covenant, a discipleship guide, sermon notes, your statement of faith. Or just talk it through. Then ask for what you want, for example:

- *"Read our Rooted guide and draft our All of life commitment from it."*
- *"Draft six marriage questions from our pre-marriage course, gentle ones first."*
- *"Our exploring-faith walks feel too churchy. Draft questions for someone who isn't sure they believe."*

The assistant reads what you use now (*get-walk-commitments*, *get-walk-questions*), so it won't repeat a question you already have, and it shows you the words before it drafts.

## 3. Review on How walks work

Open **Walking → How walks work**. Admins and owners review drafts there.

- **Commitments.** A kind of walk with a draft shows a **Draft** badge and **Review draft**. The draft opens in the editor, beside the words in use now. Change anything, then **Accept as a new version** or **Dismiss**. Walks already agreed keep the words they agreed to.
- **Questions.** Drafted questions sit at the top of **The questions**. Open one to see why it's asked, what to listen for and its follow-up, which is what the discipler reads. Accept or dismiss each one, or all at once. Accepted questions join their set marked *yours*, and disciplers can pick them from then on.

A newer commitment draft for the same kind of walk replaces the one waiting. Up to 60 drafts can wait at once.

## What always stays the same

- **Two sentences in every commitment.** What is said stays between the two of them unless someone may be at risk, and your pastors know the walk exists. The assistant is told to keep them word for word, and a draft without them is refused.
- **GiftWell's own questions** are never reworded. Hide any you'd rather not send, and add your own.
- **Every week of a season has a question.** You can't remove or hide your way to a week with nothing to send.

## Taking a question back out

Your own questions have **Remove** beside them. Walks that already had a question keep it in their history. To change a question's words, add the new one and remove the old one.

## What the assistant never does

It only drafts. It can't accept a draft, change a walk, or email anyone, and it never sees who is walking with whom unless your owner separately allowed that. In the demo church every draft is refused.
