# Share GiftWell

> Tell another church about GiftWell with your link. When they pay for a plan, your church earns 20% of that first payment, as days on your own plan or as cash.

For: Admin, Owner
Canonical: https://giftwell.app/docs/share-giftwell

Settings → **Share GiftWell** has your church's link, like `giftwell.app/r/K7M3QH2P`. Send it to a pastor, put it in a network newsletter, or just tell them your code.

## What it earns

When a church signs up through your link and later pays for a plan, your church earns **20% of that first payment**: $20 for a Small plan, $100 for a Growing plan. One reward per referred church, on their first payment only. Renewals and upgrades earn nothing more, and nothing is owed by the church you referred: they pay the same price as anyone.

## Credit or cash

Choose on the page, before or after a referral comes in. The choice at the time the other church pays is the one that applies.

- **Credit to my church's plan** (the default): the reward becomes days on your own plan, added to your paid-through date. $100 on a Small plan is a whole year. Nothing is transferred and there is nothing to declare.
- **Pay me**: the reward is paid to the church once the balance reaches $50, on the first of the month. We email the owner to arrange it. A church on the Free plan is paid this way, since there is no plan to extend.

## When

A reward is **held for 30 days** after the other church pays, which is Stripe's refund window, and then released on the first of the following month. The page shows each reward with its state: held, to be paid, credited, or paid.

## What does not count

- Your own church signing up again, or churches whose owner uses the same email domain as yours (a public mail provider like Gmail is fine).
- A church referred by the [demo church](/docs/demo-church) or by a church whose own plan has lapsed.
- Anyone who signed up more than 90 days after opening your link and did not name your church when asked who told them.

GiftWell may hold or void a reward that looks like an attempt to earn from churches made for the purpose. We will always say why.

## Privacy

The link sets one cookie, for 90 days, in the browser of the person who opened it, so sign-up knows who sent them. Nothing is set on your church's website, and the church you referred is told that they came on your link. See [Privacy promises](/docs/privacy-promises).
