Walking with someone, for the pilot churches
In this release
- Suggest a walk from a person's page
- Both say yes before anything starts
- Your covenant, your safeguarding contact
The step after a gifts conversation is often a person rather than a team: someone to walk with for a season. Walking with puts that ask in writing, for the two churches in its pilot first.
Suggest a walk from a person's page
A person's page now has a Walking with card. Choose who would walk with them and what it is about, confirm both are adults, and GiftWell sends the asks in your church's name.
Why: the pastor who just had the conversation is the one who knows who should walk with whom.
Both say yes before anything starts
The person being walked with is asked first and sees your covenant, both sides, before they agree. Only then is the other person asked. Either can say no, and nobody is told who did. Either can stop later with one link. GiftWell keeps that the walk exists, what it is about and its dates, never what is said, and deletes it twelve months after it ends.
Why: a walk that one person was talked into is not a walk.
Your covenant, your safeguarding contact
Settings has a checklist: a safeguarding contact, your written policy, the emergency number, and covenants you can rewrite in your own words. Two sentences always stay: what happens if someone may be at risk, and that your pastors know the walk exists. The owner accepts the pilot agreement, then the switch turns it on.
Why: the walks are your pastoral work, under your own safeguarding policy.
