Walking with: standing someone down
In this release
- Speak first, then send
- Every walk, under every address
- Out until the owner restores them
Sometimes someone should stop walking with others: a move, a season of life, or a concern. This release adds Stand {name} down to every walk that person leads.
Speak first, then send
The screen lists each person they walk with and asks, for each one, whether you have spoken with them or will today. "Today" holds that person's "this season has ended" email until the next morning, or until you tick that you have spoken with them. The stood-down person is sent nothing.
Why: the person stood down still has the other's address and a standing time to meet. A pastor who stands someone down phones first.
Every walk, under every address
Walks set up under a second address of theirs are found when you enter it, while walks led by someone else in the same household are left alone.
Why: a walk on a personal Gmail address is easy to miss, and standing one person down must never end their spouse's walk.
Out until the owner restores them
A stood-down team member loses access to every Walking with page from their next click and is no longer marked able. Out of walking with lists them, and only the owner restores them (or an admin, when it is the owner). Outside the UK, GiftWell keeps no lasting record, and the screen says so before you confirm. In a UK church, a safeguarding yes keeps a coded record that outlasts leaving the team.
Why: a pastor once assumed the software would block someone again. It tells you plainly what it keeps and what your own records must carry.
