Walking with someone
Ask one adult to walk with another for a season. Both are asked by email and nothing starts until both say yes; either can stop at any time.
For: PastorAdminOwner
See this screen in the demo church
Walking with lets a pastor suggest that one adult walk with another for a season: someone newer to faith with someone further along, or a person exploring with someone they trust. GiftWell asks both of them by email, in your church's name, and keeps a record that the walk exists. It never keeps what the two of them say to each other.
It is in a pilot. A church sees it only once GiftWell has offered it the pilot, and it can be turned on only after the church's owner accepts the pilot agreement.
Before you turn it on
Open Settings → Walking with (the settings page). An admin or owner works through the checklist; the switch cannot be turned on until every line is done.
- Safeguarding contact. A name, email and phone. People on a walk are told to write to this person if anything worries them.
- Safeguarding policy. A link (https) to your church's written policy.
- In an emergency. The number people should call where you are, such as 911.
- What walks can be about. "All of life" is always offered. Tick any of "Exploring faith", "Marriage", "Parenting", "Work" and "Money" you want as well.
- Your covenant. Each kind of walk starts from GiftWell's starter covenant, in two parts: what the one walking with someone agrees to, and what the one being walked with agrees to. You can rewrite both. Two sentences cannot be removed: that what is said stays between the two of them unless someone may be at risk of harm, when your safeguarding contact is told; and that your pastors know the walk exists. Saving changed words makes a new version. Walks already going on keep the version they started under. Once you have read them, choose We have read them as they stand (or save a change); opening the page does not count.
- Your privacy notice. Every invitation links to it, because the walks are your church's pastoral work. Either link your own privacy notice (an https page that opens), or adopt GiftWell's starter: fill in who people write to about their information, their email, the pastor named as the one who asks people in person, and, if you like, where people can complain. GiftWell hosts it at your church's own address, in your church's name. It is a starting point, not legal advice, and you tick that it is yours. Tick We may ask people who are not part of our church to walk with someone only if you will; see someone outside your team. If GiftWell's starter changes, the settings page asks you to adopt the new version.
- The pilot agreement. Only the owner can accept it.
Then turn it on. Walking with appears under People for pastors. The next time a pastor takes the tour (from the sidebar), it walks them through Walking with, the Map, Circles, Stories and Diagnostics; an admin's tour adds this settings page and the Pathway editor.
Suggesting a walk
Open a person's page. The Walking with card shows any walk they are on, and Suggest someone to walk with them opens the form with their name filled in.
- Check the first name they go by and the email address they gave you for themselves.
- Choose who would walk with them, from your team. If that person is not a pastor here, tick that you know them personally and have followed your safeguarding policy for them. This is asked once every three years for each person.
- Choose what the walk is about. That decides which covenant they see.
- Confirm that both are 18 or older. Walking with is for adults only.
When you suggest a walk you can add one line of your own, such as "I think you two would be good for each other." It goes in both invitations. GiftWell deletes it once both have said yes, or if the walk does not go ahead.
Someone outside your team
The one walking with someone does not have to be on your GiftWell team. In the Who would walk with them list, choose Someone not on our team… and give their first and last name and the address they gave you for themselves (not one from your records). An address that belongs to someone on your team is refused: choose them from the list instead.
Then say whether they are part of your church.
- Yes: they are one of your people who is not on the team. The invitation carries the same lines as any member's.
- No: a friend from another church, say. This is offered only when your privacy notice covers people outside the church. Tick that you asked them in person, that they gave you this address, and that you told them what your church will keep and that one tap says no. Their invitation says that you are your church's contact for this walk and will introduce them. It also says what is kept, who sees it, how long it is kept and that it rests on their consent. The person being walked with is told that they are not part of your church and that you know them.
Either way, tick that you know them and that your church's own checks for this role were done (in the UK, that you have followed your safeguarding policy for them). For someone outside your team, this is asked for every walk, and kept as a safeguarding record.
People added this way never appear in People and have no person page. They are listed under Not on your list on the Walking with page, for owners, admins and pastors, with the note a pastor gave for them. From there you can stand them down, or Erase them when they ask you to delete what you keep: their walks end, the other person is told the walk has ended (not why), and their name, address and walks are deleted. Thirty days after their last walk ends, they are deleted anyway.
What each person receives
The person being walked with is asked first. The email comes from your church "via GiftWell". It names your church but not the other person in the subject line, and it carries no images and no tracking. The link opens a page with the covenant, both sides. They answer Yes (after ticking that they are 18 or older and agree), or No, thank you.
Only after a yes is the one walking with them asked, the same way. They can also answer Not yet: the suggestion stays open, and the pastor who suggested it is told once.
When both have said yes, each gets a confirmation with a stop link. The pastor who suggested it gets a short note at each step: both said yes, not yet, did not go ahead, or stopped. Nobody is ever told who said no.
If the person being walked with does not answer within 30 days, the suggestion lapses and is forgotten. If the one walking with them does not answer within 60 days of being asked, it lapses too. The Walking with page shows the date each waiting suggestion lapses.
Reminders and another month
Each person gets at most two short reminders, and the first email says so.
- The person being walked with is reminded once, a week after they were asked.
- The one walking with them is reminded when you press Introduced (after you have put them in touch), and again two weeks after they were asked. Never more than two, whichever comes first.
- A week before a suggestion lapses, the pastor who suggested it gets one email saying so.
If the person being walked with has said yes and the other just needs longer, press Give them another month on the Walking with page. Their link then works for 30 more days. You can do this once for each suggestion.
The guide
Both people get a short guide, linked from their emails: what walking with someone is, the first conversation, what to do when it is hard, and ending well. The pages about the first conversation and about hard moments open with your emergency number and your safeguarding contact. The guide is the same for every church; your covenant is where your own words go.
Suggesting something for the shelf
The discipler's guide ends with "Suggest something for your church's shelf": a page that takes a link and nothing else, no title, no reason, while the walk is going on. Your pastors see it under "Suggested for the shelf" on Walking with, with the date it came and never who sent it. "Add to the shelf" opens a new resource with the link filled in; when you save it, the sender gets one short thank-you. "Not for our shelf" tells them a pastor has looked at it, and the suggestion is deleted thirty days later. GiftWell never opens a suggested link; open one yourself only if you trust it. At most five can wait from one walk at a time.
Questions in groups
The question library on Walking with settings, and "pick another" on the discipler's choice page, now group the questions (story and trust, Scripture and prayer, the harder places, and so on), so a discipler looking for a particular kind of question finds it without reading all thirty.
The disciplers' shelf
Resources marked "For people walking with someone" are listed in the discipler's guide, before the page for suggesting a link, and on their My GiftWell while the walk is live. The person walked with never sees them.
Suggesting something to the one walking with you
The guide of the person being walked with ends with "Suggest something to {name}": a link and a line about why it helped, while the walk is going on. Only the one walking with them sees it, at the foot of their own guide, with one short email that says something is waiting but not what. Pastors, staff and GiftWell's own team cannot read it. Ten can be sent in one walk.
What you have written
The foot of each person's guide lists what they have written on the walk and who can still read each piece. "Take back from {name}" stops that person reading it at once, and nobody is told.
Asking for input
Once a walk has started, the one walking with someone can ask for input from the pastor who suggested it, from another pastor, or from the person who walks with them, if they have one. The page lists roles, not names. GiftWell sends that person one short email saying they would like their input, with replies going straight to the one who asked. They can ask each person once a day.
The page also has an optional box, "What is happening". If they write there, the person asked gets a private link instead, for fourteen days, to read it and answer once. The answer goes back to the one who asked, by email and at the foot of their guide. Nobody else can read either: not other pastors, not staff, not GiftWell's team. The one who wrote can take it back from their guide, and the link stops working at once. If the email does not go, nothing is kept. Leaving the box empty works as before: they write in their own email.
In the weekly digest
If your church gets the weekly digest, it now has a Walking with section when there is something to say:
- Pastors, admins and owners see walks where both said yes that week.
- The pastor who suggested a walk sees their own suggestions still waiting after a week, and who asked them for input.
Nobody is told who said no, and a suggestion still waiting is shown only to the pastor who made it.
One question a week
Once both have said yes, the discipler gives the date of their first meeting, and GiftWell sends one question a week from your church.
- The morning after they meet, the discipler gets "Choose this week's question". It shows the season's question for that week, why it is asked, what to listen for and one follow-up. Three taps: send this one, pick another, or not this week. The page offers the following week too, so both can be chosen at one sitting. From week six the email says the harder weeks begin here.
- The evening before they next meet, the person walked with gets that question from your church. Replies go to the discipler and no one else. GiftWell keeps which question went, never an answer.
- Not this week sends nothing. The next week's question is still the one that was skipped.
- No tap sends the season's question for that week. After three meetings in a row with no tap, the questions stop, and the discipler gets one kind email with a link that starts them again. The person who proposed the walk sees a line in the digest. So they do when the discipler chooses "not this week" three times in a row.
- The discipler can change the meeting day from the same page. Meetings whose question has not yet gone move with it.
Writing your own
On the choice page, "Write your own" lets the person walking with someone send one question in their own words instead. It goes to the other person from your church, like the others, and the email says who wrote it. Nobody at your church sees it, and GiftWell deletes it as soon as it is sent, or once the meeting has passed if it never went.
Hiding questions
Settings has The questions: every question in each set (whole life, exploring faith, one area of life). Untick any your church would rather not send. You can hide a question but never reword it, because each one goes out in your church's name. You cannot hide every question that can be asked in the first week of a season.
Pausing, and when emails go quiet
Every email about a walk carries "Want a break from these emails? Pause them for four weeks". Either person can pause. While paused, nothing goes to the person who paused, and the other person gets at most one line saying no question will go this week, with no reason. Nobody is told who paused, the pastors included: a pause shows nothing on Walking and nothing in the digest.
- After four weeks the person who paused gets one email: pick the emails up again? One tap resumes them.
- Fourteen days after that with no tap, the walk goes quiet. Both people get one email saying the weekly emails have stopped and that, if they are still meeting, they should keep meeting. The second person (see below) gets one email naming the two, saying neither asked us to say why. Walking shows the walk as quiet, never who paused.
- A quiet walk has not ended. Only the person who paused can restart it. If the other person taps, the one who paused gets one email saying they would like to pick the emails up again.
Fewer emails, never none at the first tap
The first time a discipler unsubscribes from a walk that is sending questions, GiftWell turns off the choice email only. The person they walk with is told once that no question will come for now, Walking shows questions off, and the person who proposed the walk sees a digest line. The discipler then gets one email every four weeks from your church: the guide, a link to ask for input, your safeguarding contact, and a Start the questions again button. A second unsubscribe stops every email to them. When the person walked with unsubscribes, the discipler is told once and the proposer sees a line saying that person will hear about the walk only from them or the discipler.
Area walks
A walk about one area of life sends no weekly question unless a pastor turns it on from Walking ("Turn the weekly question on"). Its discipler gets the four-weekly email instead.
Week three and week six
- Week three, for someone walking with a person for the first time: the guide's "when it is hard" page and a nudge to ask the person how it is going. Replies go to whoever proposed the walk. Pastors see "{name}'s first walk is in week three" in the digest.
- Week six, to the person walked with: how is it going? Replies go to the walk's second person, never to the discipler, and the discipler is not told. The second person is whoever proposed the walk, or else your longest-serving pastor, or else the owner, and never one of the two people on the walk. Where there is no one, the email is skipped. A pause by the discipler does not stop it.
Another season together
Two weeks before a season's date, the discipler is asked "Another season together?" and to read the covenant again with the person they walk with first. That person is asked only after the discipler says yes, so they never read a no after their own yes. If you changed the covenant since they agreed, the page says so and shows it as it stands now.
- Both yes: one more season, on the same walk, against the covenant each read.
- A week before the date, an unanswered discipler is asked again and whoever suggested the walk is told.
- At the date, still unanswered, the walk holds for two weeks with the questions going on. Silence is usually a busy fortnight, not a no.
- At the end of the hold, whoever suggested the walk is asked once: end it, or give it two more weeks (once). If nothing is chosen in a week, or after the two more weeks, the walk ends with the usual "this season has ended" emails.
- A no ends the walk at its date. Nobody is told why. A paused walk is not asked until it resumes; a quiet walk ends at its date.
Exploring, then whole life
On an exploring walk the season email has a third answer: has come to faith. Whoever suggested the walk is asked to read the whole-life covenant with the person walked with, then choose Has come to faith on Walking with. The discipler is asked first, then the person walked with. Two yeses move the same walk to whole life, with the questions starting again from week one and a new season. No ended email goes. "Not for me" leaves the walk as it was and tells only whoever suggested it. An unfinished move lapses after thirty days.
Unsubscribing
Every email to the two people carries a one-click unsubscribe that mail apps show next to the sender. On a suggestion they have not answered, it counts as No, thank you. On a walk that has started, it stops GiftWell's emails to that person and nothing else: the walk goes on, and they can still stop it with their link. If their email provider reports a message as spam, GiftWell treats it the same way.
Standing someone down
If someone should no longer walk with anyone, a pastor, admin or owner opens Stand {name} down from any walk that person leads. Nobody can stand themselves down, and the owner can be stood down like anyone else.
The screen lists every walk the person leads under their first name. If they might have a second address (a personal Gmail, say), enter it under Does {name} have another address we use? and walks set up under that address are listed too. Walks led by someone else in the same household, on the same row or address, are left alone.
Before anything is sent, you answer for each person they walk with:
- I have spoken with Sam. Sam's walk ends and Sam gets the same "this season has ended" email every ending sends, which points them to a pastor.
- I will speak with Sam today. The walk ends now, but Sam's email waits until the next morning (never more than a day). The Walking with page shows it under Waiting for you to speak with them, with I have now spoken with Sam, send it to send it sooner. If Sam unsubscribed, no email goes at all; the line stays on the page until you tick that you have spoken with them.
On the tick, every listed walk ends, the person is no longer marked able to walk with anyone, and if they are on your team they lose access to every Walking with page from their next click. The stood-down person is sent nothing: you have spoken with them. Their own walks as the one being walked with carry on. They keep their login and role; the confirmation reminds you, and the owner changes the role on the Team page if it should change.
Outside the UK, standing someone down keeps no record that would stop them being asked to walk with someone again, and nothing goes with them if they leave your team. (A concern your safeguarding contact has kept is a separate record; see below.) If it is a safeguarding matter, record it under your church's own policy and tell your safeguarding contact. In a church whose data is held in the UK, the screen asks Is this a safeguarding matter? A yes keeps a coded record of the person's addresses under their name, so they cannot be asked to walk with anyone at the church again, even after leaving and rejoining the team, until it is cleared.
Out of walking with on the Walking with page lists everyone stood down. The owner restores them (an admin, when it is the owner who was stood down); for a safeguarding record the button reads Concern not upheld: restore and removes the record too. Restoring does not make them able again: a pastor still marks them able before they walk with anyone.
Concerns and the safeguarding contact
The stop link gives each person one more choice beside a plain stop:
- The one being walked with can choose Stop this walk: it worries me. The walk ends, and the person leading it is told only that it has ended, in the usual words. Your safeguarding contact is emailed at once. Until they follow it up, that person cannot be asked to walk with anyone at your church. They can still be walked with themselves.
- The one leading can choose Don't stop it: I am worried for {name}. Nothing ends and the other person is not told. Your safeguarding contact is asked to speak with the person who raised it. If it is still open after fourteen days, your pastors are told as well.
Pastors, admins and the owner see each concern under Concerns on the Walking with page, with what state it is in. Who raised a concern is never shown on that list; the email sent when it is raised names them, so your pastors know whom the contact will speak with. Nobody sees a concern about themselves, and neither email goes to the person it is about.
The safeguarding contact's page
Your safeguarding contact (set on the Walking with settings) answers concerns on their own page, which needs no GiftWell login. Every email to them carries a link to it that works for seven days. Opened from an email, the page shows only that one item. To see everything, they ask for a six-digit code, which is emailed to the same address and works once, for ten minutes. Five wrong codes lock it. A correct code opens every item for thirty minutes. If the contact is on your team, Email me a link to my safeguarding page on the Walking with page sends a fresh link. If you change the contact, the old contact's links stop working; opening one sends a fresh link to the new contact instead.
On that page the contact can:
- Mark a concern followed up. If it was not a safeguarding matter, the record is removed and the person can be asked again. If it was, the record is kept and reviewed every three years. In a UK church, a kept concern also asks your pastors to stand the person down, with the safeguarding question already answered.
- Keep or remove a kept record at any time.
- Lift a refusal for one first name. A record refuses an address under the person's own first name outright. Under any other first name (a spouse who shares the address, say), it refuses with "This address needs a check before it can be used here" and emails the contact once. The contact can lift it for that one first name, after ticking that they asked that person face to face and that the address is theirs alone. No lift ever reaches the name on the record.
- Restore the owner when the owner is the one who was stood down.
Reviews
Every three years a kept record comes back to the contact: keep or remove. Nothing removes it by silence. After thirty days without an answer, the owner is asked too, and then both are asked weekly until someone answers. The owner can also answer on the Walking with page with Keep or Remove, unless the record is about the owner.
A rule of life
Once Walking with is on, each person with My GiftWell sees a Rule region: a few practices from your pathway, a "kept today" tap, optional reminders at an hour they choose, and commitments that always name someone and a landmark. It is theirs alone. Pastors never see a rule, a kept day or a commitment, and nothing counts a missed day. The practice words come from your pathway; see My GiftWell.
Stages and thresholds
Everyone on your People list has a stage: where they are on your pathway, in your pathway's own names (Attend, Connect, Serve and Train in the starter). Set it on a person's page, under Growth timeline. A move forward is a threshold: it goes on their timeline as "Moved to Serve", and if someone is walking with them, that person is recorded as its witness. A move back, or setting the stage they already have, writes nothing.
The next time they open My GiftWell, they are asked once: "Would you like to tell what this meant?" What they write is theirs. The one walking with them reads it only if they tick the box, and you never do. "Not now" is an answer too; nothing asks again.
The Map
People → Map (open it in the demo) draws your pathway as columns, one per stage, with everyone on your list by name. A filled dot is someone with a person walking with them. An outline is someone with nobody yet, so the gaps are drawn as people rather than as a number. A ring means they walk with someone themselves. Pastors see the Map; it is read-only.
A stage of 200 people still fits one screen: each column draws at most eighteen names, the people with nobody first, and says "and 182 more, 170 with nobody" below them. Open a name to go to their page.
Movement
Under the drawing, Movement counts the last twelve months for each stage: how many people moved in, how many of them had someone walking with them when they moved, and how many joined a circle within 90 days. The counts come from the formation feed, a list of kinds and days with no names or words in it, updated every hour. Any count under three is shown as "fewer than 3", so the table never points at one person. Rows are kept for 24 months and go when the person is erased.
Editing your pathway
Admins edit the pathway under Settings → Pathway (see it in the demo). Each stage is a column with its next steps and its practices. Drag a step or practice to another stage, or open it and use Move to, which works from the keyboard. Rename a stage in place, and move it earlier or later with the arrows. A stage holds at most twelve steps and practices, and a pathway at most eight stages: a stage is a few next steps, not a syllabus.
Nothing is written until you press Save as a new version. The last twenty versions are kept under Earlier versions, and Restore brings one back as a new version.
Removing retires. A step, practice or stage you remove is kept, marked retired, so the people who already took it keep it and an old version still reads. It can come back from Retired stages. Restoring an old version retires anything added since; it never deletes it.
Retiring a stage with people on it. GiftWell asks where they go before it will save. Moving them writes no "You moved to…" note, because they did not take a step: the pathway changed. The audit log records the move by count, with no names.
Start from your own words
If your church has an AI key in Settings → AI, the editor offers Start from your own words. Paste how your church describes its path, such as a page from your website, a membership class outline or a sermon note, and GiftWell drafts stages, steps and practices from it. Only that text goes to your AI provider, on your church's own key; nothing about anyone in your church is sent. The draft fills the editor and nothing is saved until you press Save. Your current stages come back retired in the draft, so saving it as it is loses nothing.
Circles
A circle is a few people who meet together: a class (open, with a leader), a band (three to five, closed once it begins) or a cohort (a group that starts and ends together). Open People → Circles (see it in the demo), name the circle, choose a leader if it has one, and invite people who have their own email address in your records.
Each person gets one email from your church with a yes and a no. Nobody is in a circle until they say yes, and anyone can leave from My GiftWell at any time. When a band begins, its open invitations are withdrawn and it takes nobody new. Ending a circle keeps nothing about what was said in it: GiftWell knows only who said yes, and when.
People in the same live circle are beside each other. That lets them share a reflection with each other and write each other a word, the same as two people walking together.
Stories
Anyone can write their story in My GiftWell: what God has done in them, in their own words. It stays theirs. They choose who may read it:
- Only me (the default)
- My pastors may read it
- My pastors may share it in church, exactly as it appears
They can also ask for it to be shown without their name. What pastors see under People → Stories (demo) is exactly the preview the writer saw before they chose, with "Someone in our church" in place of their name if they asked. There is no public setting, and changing the choice back to "Only me" removes it from the page at once.
Words
A word is a short note, up to 1,000 characters, from one person to someone they walk with or someone beside them in a circle. Once given, it belongs to the person it was written to: the writer cannot take it back or pass it on. The email that tells them says only that a word is waiting, never what it says.
Help me say it turns a few rough notes into a short draft, on your church's own AI key (added in Settings). The notes go to your AI provider and back to the writer only; nothing is saved until they send the word under their own name, and the button is hidden when there is no key.
The safeguarding hold
Off by default. The owner turns it on under Settings → Walking with, naming one person who may read held words.
With the hold on, when a pastor stands someone down, the words that person wrote to others are held for 12 months. During that time only the named person can open them, one at a time, from Open held words, and each opening is recorded with their name and the time. The writer cannot read or erase a held word. The people the words were written to keep their own copies either way. After 12 months a held word goes back to the ordinary rules, and if its writer has asked to be erased, it is deleted then.
With the hold off, nothing is held.
Diagnostics
People → Diagnostics reads the shape of your pathway, never anyone's words. Open the demo. Each line is a fixed sentence built from counts and dates:
- people who have been at one stage for more than six months with nobody walking with them;
- a stage that has no steps or practices yet;
- a season that ends within two weeks, and an invitation to walk that has waited more than a week;
- a band with fewer than three people who said yes, and circle invitations unanswered for two weeks.
No line names a person; Look takes you to the page where you can see who. Dismiss hides a line for 90 days and records who dismissed it. If the line changes (a band gains a member, a count moves), it comes back at once, because it is a new line. Show dismissed lists what is hidden.
Moments
Two people walking together can each keep a short moment they noticed in the other, from My GiftWell. Only the two of them can read it: no pastor, page, report, export or AI tool in GiftWell shows it. Either of them can delete it, and it goes when the walk is deleted or either person is erased. See My GiftWell.
Stopping and ending
- Either person can stop at any time with the link in their confirmation. The other person is told that the walk has ended.
- A pastor can end a walk from the Walking with page, or stand the person leading it down (above).
- A walk with nothing happening for twelve months ends on its own.
- Turning Walking with off ends suggestions that are still waiting at once. Walks already going on end after thirty days, and each person is emailed to say so. If you turn it back on within those thirty days, the walks carry on, and each person is emailed to say they are not ending after all.
An ended walk stays on the Walking with page for 90 days. Names and addresses are cleared from it thirty days after its last email, and the whole record is deleted twelve months after it ended. The privacy notice says the same to your people.
Pilot agreement
This is version 1, the text your owner accepts in Settings. It changes only by a new version, which every pilot church accepts again.
GiftWell pilot agreement: walking with someone (version 1)
- What the pilot is. For one season of about twelve weeks, the church uses GiftWell's "walking with someone" feature before other churches can. A pastor at the church asks two adults to walk together; GiftWell emails each of them to ask if they agree, and later sends the one walking ahead a weekly question.
- Whose it is. The walks are the church's pastoral work. The church decides who is asked, vets the people it asks to walk with others under its own safeguarding policy, and is the controller of what GiftWell holds about them. GiftWell is the church's processor and follows the data processing terms already in place.
- What the church agrees to do. Name a safeguarding contact and link its safeguarding policy before turning the feature on; propose walks only for adults; use the covenant in person, as the guide describes; tell GiftWell at once if it learns of harm connected with a walk; and arrange the interviews below.
- The counts. The church instructs GiftWell to produce, once at each reporting date (month one, week six and season end), these counts for the pilot: invitations sent and confirmed, live walks, questions sent, stops, "another season" answers, and each scope used (a church-added scope is reported only as "a church-added scope"). They are kept as a document, never a live page, are never published with the church's name, and are deleted with the gate report. The church's pastors are told whether the pilot passed each test, not the numbers.
- The interviews. In weeks two, six and twelve, the church invites a pastor, some of the people walking with someone, and some of the people being walked with to a short conversation with GiftWell using a fixed script. GiftWell never writes first to anyone on a walk. Each person agrees in writing before the conversation; GiftWell keeps notes only, never a recording, and deletes them six months after the gate report.
- What it costs. Nothing beyond the church's current plan, during the pilot and for the season after it.
- Stopping. The church can turn the feature off at any time from its settings. Turning it off ends every walk at thirty days with the email each person is promised. GiftWell can end the pilot with fourteen days' notice, or at once if continuing would put someone at risk; either way every walk ends the same way.
- Afterwards. If the pilot passes, the feature opens to the church as an ordinary part of its plan. If it does not, the feature is turned off as in clause 7 and nothing about the walks is kept beyond what the privacy page already says is kept.
Which churches are offered it.
