AI briefs

An optional staff-only summary of a person's words before a conversation, written by an AI your church pays for with its own key, from what the person wrote and never from their scores.

What a brief is

On a person's page, pastors and up can ask for a brief: a short, plain summary of what the person wrote (what stirs them, what they are good at, what their life allows, who they want to serve) and two or three questions worth asking them. It is written by an AI model your church chooses, in your church's voice if you set one in Settings.

A brief is for the team only. The member never sees it, it is never emailed, and it is marked as AI-written wherever it appears.

Bring your own key

GiftWell does not include an AI service. In Settings → AI, add a key from OpenRouter, OpenAI or Anthropic and choose a model. Your church pays that provider directly, usually pennies per brief. No key, no briefs; nothing else in GiftWell depends on one.

What is sent, and what is never sent

Sent: the person's first name, their lead band names, and what they wrote in the open questions, except the private one. Your church's voice note.

Never sent: scores, the something I have walked through answer, confirmations from other people, Spirit-gifts answers, email addresses, anything about a person who did not share their result or who may be under 18. Nothing is sent for the demo church.

Why briefs never see scores

A model given scores will rank them, and ranking is the one thing GiftWell refuses to do. Briefs read words, because words are what a conversation is about.
