Some weeks are too full for one more email. Every email about a walk now offers a four-week pause.
A four-week pause nobody sees
Either person can pause. Nobody is told who paused, your pastors included. The other person hears at most that no question will go this week.
Why: a person should be able to take a breath without it becoming a pastoral conversation.
Quiet, not ended
After four weeks, the person who paused is asked once whether to pick the emails up again. Two weeks later with no answer, the walk goes quiet: both people are told the emails have stopped, and to keep meeting if they are. Walking shows quiet. Only the one who paused can restart it.
Fewer emails at the first unsubscribe
A discipler's first unsubscribe turns off the choice email only. They hear from your church every four weeks instead, with a button to start the questions again. A second unsubscribe stops everything.
Week three and week six
Someone walking with a person for the first time gets a short note in week three, with replies going to whoever suggested the walk. In week six the person walked with is asked how it is going. Their reply reaches a pastor, never the discipler.
Area walks send no weekly question unless a pastor turns it on.
