  • Stop it, or stay and say so
  • A page for the safeguarding contact
  • Reviewed, never kept by silence

Sometimes the person who should hear about a worry is not a pastor but your safeguarding contact. This release gives both people on a walk a way to say so, and gives the contact a place to answer.

Stop it, or stay and say so

The one being walked with can stop a walk and say it worries them. The walk ends with the usual words to the other person, and that person cannot be asked to lead another walk until the contact has followed it up. The one leading can say they are worried for the other without ending anything.

Why: the person who feels unsafe should never have to explain themselves to the person they are worried about, and the person who is worried should not have to end a walk to be heard.

A page for the safeguarding contact

Your contact gets an email with a link to their own page, no login needed. The link shows only that one concern; a code sent to their address opens everything for half an hour. From there they mark a concern followed up, keep or remove a record, and lift a refusal for one first name after speaking with that person.

Why: a safeguarding contact is often not on your GiftWell team, and the person who raised a concern must never be visible to anyone else.

Reviewed, never kept by silence

A kept concern comes back to the contact every three years. If thirty days pass without an answer, the owner is asked as well, and then both are asked weekly. Pastors see each concern and its state on the Walking with page, never who raised it.

Why: a record that stops someone serving must be looked at again by a person, not left to stand forever or quietly lapse.
